A reminder to encourage his fellow citizens to do the same. US President Joe Biden, 80, has received one dose of the updated Covid-19 vaccine, as well as the annual flu vaccine, his doctor announced Saturday.
"As we enter cold and flu season, the president encourages all Americans to follow his lead," wrote the president's personal physician, Kevin O'Connor.
Joe Biden had also received "several weeks ago" a new vaccine against the respiratory syncytial virus (RSV), responsible for respiratory infections – such as bronchiolitis – and which can be dangerous in the elderly and babies.
Uncertain follow-up
U.S. health officials now recommend that all Americans 60 years of age and older receive an RSV vaccine.
They also last week authorized an updated version of Pfizer and Moderna's Covid 19 vaccines, better suited to the variants of the virus currently circulating.

The number of hospitalizations related to Covid-19 has been on the rise in the United States in recent weeks, but the success of this new vaccination campaign is uncertain: the previous booster dose against Covid-19 was carried out by only 17% of the US population.
