On Sunday, "The Voice of Germany" went on air on ProSieben as an exception. Thus, the casting show competed against the "Tatort" in the ARD. The ratings show a clear result.

Cologne – TV viewers were once again spoilt for choice on Sunday evening (24 September). Would you rather have a crime thriller in the first with a new edition of the Swiss "Tatort" or rather a new episode of "The Voice of Germany" with, among others, pop star Giovanni Zarrella (45) on ProSieben?

As an exception, the music show ran on Sunday, as the German Television Award will be broadcast in its usual slot next Thursday (28 September). But could the casting show keep up with the ever-popular crime thriller on ARD?

"Tatort" vs. "The Voice of Germany": Who wins the battle for the quota?

According to the DWDL number center, "The Voice of Germany" was able to attract 3.1 million people to the screens of the total audience aged 37 and over. This corresponds to a market share of 5.7 percent. Thus, the third episode of the format was the weakest so far compared to the first two episodes of the new season from a ratings point of view.

In the advertising-relevant target group of 14- to 49-year-olds, the show achieved a solid market share of 10.9 percent with 610,000 viewers, but in the end "The Voice" had to admit defeat to the Swiss "Tatort" with the episode "Blind Spot" in both target groups.

Swiss "Tatort" clearly wins the ratings duel

Among the total audience aged three and over, the "Tatort" took over 30 percent market share (30.1). 8.31 million TV viewers opted for the crime thriller on Sunday in the first. Thus, the ARD clearly made it to number one in the charts.

And the crime thriller also caught on in the younger target group. With 1.48 million viewers, "Tatort" generated a market share of 23.8 percent. In the daily charts, the ARD program placed second behind the "Tagesschau" at 20 p.m. Thus, the ARD clearly succeeded in the race for the quota compared to "The Voice" on ProSieben.

Nevertheless, "The Voice" is considered the strongest pursuer of "Tatort" at primetime. In the most-watched shows of the day, the show placed third in the advertising-relevant target group, directly behind the crime thriller. The season opener of "The Voice of Germany" went on Thursday evening (September 21) against the revival of "Disgrace or Cash" with Elton (52) on RTL in the ratings race. In terms of formats, there was a narrow winner. Sources used:dwdl.de
