Ohlstadt – After a rear-end collision on the A95 near Ohlstadt, a trailer weighing around 2.5 tons was driving about 500 meters without a driver. With a lot of luck, no one was harmed. Only the crash barriers in the middle and right were demolished. The starting point was a serious rear-end collision on the Ohlstädter Bridge in the direction of Munich, to which the Eschenlohe fire brigade, the Weilheim traffic police and the BRK rescue service had to move out on Sunday evening. The driver of a Skoda with a Czech license plate had apparently overlooked a van in front of him including a market trailer and crashed his car into the trailer. The car stopped on the hard shoulder with a badly damaged front. The two occupants suffered minor injuries.
The trailer, however, pushed itself into the towing vehicle due to the impact, damaged it and tore off completely. The emergency brake cable, which had connected the van and trailer, triggered emergency braking through the crack. However, the driverless trailer only came to a stop after about 500 meters.
The complete closure of the A95 was unavoidable, spilled operating materials had to be collected and debris lying around had to be removed. It was only after almost two hours that the lanes in the direction of Munich could be reopened.
