Le Figaro Nice
On the night of Saturday to Sunday, in Nice, a woman was violently assaulted by an individual before a plainclothes policeman came to her aid, Le Figaro learned Monday from a police source. The facts occurred rue de l'Abbaye, in the old town, around 1:20 am.
The victim was beaten numerous times, apparently with the aim of stealing his personal belongings and in this case his satchel. Witnessing the scene, the official tried to stop the bearer of blows, to no avail. He threatened him with a corkscrew before disappearing into the alleys.

Immediate appearance
Aged (according to him) twenty years old and of Algerian nationality, the accused was arrested a few minutes later by a crew of the national police. He was immediately taken into custody. During his hearing, he denied the facts. Police officers also discovered that he had entered the country illegally.
Indicted and imprisoned, he was to be brought in immediate appearance Monday before the criminal court of Nice.
