"Der Feinschmecker" annually selects the Restaurant of the Year, among other things. In 2023, a restaurant in the middle of Franconia made it to the top.
Wirsberg - Party atmosphere at the restaurant AURA by Alexander Herrmann and Tobias Bätz in Wirsberg, Kulmbach district, in the middle of Upper Franconia: The restaurant snatched the prestigious award as the best restaurant of the year 2023, chosen by the magazine "Der Feinschmecker".
Award-winning gourmet food in the middle of Franconia: AURA Restaurant wins "Der Feinschmecker" award
Every year, the magazine "Der Feinschmecker" presents the Gastro Awards in various categories - including the best chef, the newcomer of the year and the best service team. One of the most prestigious awards is, of course, the Restaurant of the Year – the competition in this category is enormous. The restaurant AURA by Alexander Herrmann and Tobias Bätz in Wirsberg is all the more pleased to have been awarded in 2023.
Alexander Herrmann and Tobias Bätz, who jointly run the AURA, have not only given the restaurant a new name - they have also reinvented it, according to the "Feinschmecker" on the occasion of the award. "And this has been successful in every respect: culinary, with its own food scout, to whom the many original Franconian products (lark oil, Nuremberg original cabbage) are to be thanked, and the state-of-the-art food lab, where young chefs ferment, cure and experiment."
But it's not just the food itself that makes the Franconian restaurant shine: the atmosphere behind the scenes is also highlighted. Further training is offered for the employees, there are family-friendly working hours – the guests would also feel that the service is doing so well.

As is well known, however, quality has its price – this also applies to the AURA. The 6-course menu on the current menu, which offers, among other things, "8-year-old Herefor cattle" and "sturgeon fillet with young horseradish miso flamed", costs 219 euros. In return, the costs are now backed by award-winning chefs and an employee-friendly management of the restaurant. (FHZ)
