He was ordained a priest in the Congo, and since 2017 Dr. Guy-Angelo Kangosa has been pastor in Stockdorf, where he is firmly integrated into parish life. The many visitors in honor of his 25th anniversary as a priest were proof.

Stockdorf – Go out into the world and proclaim the gospel: This appeal of the evangelist Mark was followed by the Stockdorf pastor Dr. Guy-Angelo Kangosa. Stockdorf's parish council chairwoman Elisabeth Berger-Pöschl thanked him for this when the congregation celebrated his 25th anniversary as a priest together on Sunday. Since 2017, Kangosa has been a pastor in the Gauting district. The parish hall of St. Vitus in Stockdorf was well filled for the occasion.

"At the age of twelve, I left my parents, went to the boys' seminary with boarding school, then to the seminary and to the university," said Guy-Angelo Kangosa, who was born in Congo, after the great festive service in his honor. Since then, the church has been "my family," said the doctor of theology.

Before Stockdorf: Stations in France, Switzerland, Italy, Spain and Austria

"On August 9, 1998, you were ordained a priest in the Congo," said the chairwoman of the parish council in her ceremonial speech in the parish hall. After an "assistantship" at the Université Catholique du Congo in Kinshasa and then in France, Switzerland, Italy, Spain and Austria, Kangosa finally came to Germany and completed his doctorate at the Ludwig-Maximilians-University in Munich.

He felt very comfortable as a pastor in Neuching near Erding and in St. Margaret in Sendling, Kangosa said. "After health restrictions, you came to us on January 1, 2017 in the parish network," said Elisabeth Berger-Pöschl and proudly referred to his "part-time job", because at the same time Kangosa also teaches at the Catholic Faculty at the University of the Congo - "and you stand up for the poor there". In 2012, the Stockdorf pastor founded the St. Vincent Foundation there. With the help of donations, Kangosa built a center for 4000 poor children. In the next step, a craft school is to follow, the parish council chairwoman knew: "But only if I have won the lottery," joked the Stockdorf priest with a laugh.

Gift: Close-up of the official celebration of the Jubilee of the priesthood in July with Cardinal Reinhard Marx

"In any case, it is impressive how energetically you are committed to the gospel," emphasized the Stockdorf resident. "That's why we're glad you're here," she added to sustained applause. As a thank you and gift for the priestly anniversary, she presented the parish priest with a close-up of his official celebration of the priestly jubilee in July with Cardinal Reinhard Marx in Munich's Frauenkirche. "It's nice that the Lord God also created women," the priest replied with his fine sense of humor. Cc
