With a brazen trick, a fraudster has gained access to the online account of an 83-year-old in Schäftlarn.
On Monday, September 25, around 17 p.m., an 83-year-old man in Schäftlarn received a call from a previously unknown perpetrator. The perpetrator pretended to be an employee of the German Anti-Fraud Office. Through skillful conversation and a promised Bitcoin profit, he managed to install software on the 83-year-old's laptop, which gave him remote access to the laptop.
Perpetrator transfers money to a foreign account
In the further course, the 83-year-old gave the unknown perpetrator access to his online bank account, from which the perpetrator transferred a low four-digit amount to a foreign account. After the transfer process, an acquaintance of the 83-year-old was added. They recognized the fraud and called the police emergency number 110. Further investigations in this case are being conducted by Commissariat 122 (Cybercrime).
