This time, the Freising Volunteer Market once again gave an insight into the various offers of help in the cathedral city. Interesting contacts were made.
Freising – Volunteering has always been a top priority in Freising. The commitment of the individual and also of the groups is enormous. In order to draw the attention of the general public to the numerous activities from time to time, there has been the so-called volunteer market for a long time. On Saturday, after a stroll, the people of Freising were able to find out about the weekly market, drink a fresh espresso and make the acquaintance of Mika, the Maltese visitor dog.
If you were on your way in the direction of the Roider-Jackl-Brunnen, you could pick up a strong espresso from Jürgen Maguhn from the Fair Forum as a pick-me-up – of course, brewed in style from the WIR coffee, for which, by the way, shares can also be bought in the world shop.
Stacks of information
In addition to coffee, there was also stacks of information about the possibilities of volunteering in Freising. And even though volunteering is very important in the cathedral city, there can't be enough helping hands and hearts anyway.
Songs by Reinhard Mey will also be heard at the concert of the hospice group – Sylvia Klausz-Blaukowitsch (l.) and Barbara Kraich-Weigand are happy about this. © Lorenz
But we are not only looking for helpers, but also for seniors who would like to take advantage of the Malteser Visiting Service with their dog - to get out of their home again, but also more out of themselves. More information and contact details are available at www.malteser.de/freising or by calling (0 81 61) 93 69 90.
(By the way: Everything from the region is now also available in our regular Freising newsletter.)
On the other hand, it was not animal, but musical, at the booth of the Hospizgruppe e.V. - because of an upcoming concert in autumn. On Sunday, 19 November, the St. Georg Youth Ensemble will give a benefit concert entitled "Songs of the Heart of the Deceased". Admission to the concert in St. George's Church is free, the donations will benefit the Freising hospice group.
What many people in Freising probably don't know yet: In the cathedral city there is an offer for people with incipient dementia - namely the Café Malta of the Malteser, Veit-Adam-Straße 31.

Good to know
- The café takes place every Thursday from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. However, Caritas Freising is also looking for volunteers, as social pedagogue Bernadette Hölzl explained – among other things as language mediators for visits to the authorities and doctors.
- If you would like to help here, are looking for further volunteer activities or simply want to find out more about the offers, you will find what you are looking for at www.caritas-freising.de.
- Among others, also on site: Donum Vitae, Frieda & Ben e.V. and the cancer aid association Maria & Christoph e.V.
