At an Oktoberfest near Bautzen, a march of the Wehrmacht is played in the tent, guests probably show the Hitler salute. A video of the incident is circulating on the net.
Bautzen – At the Oktoberfest in the small village of Zieschütz near Bautzen, there was apparently a Nazi scandal. A video shows how several guests probably show the Hitler salute during the event. In the background, a Wehrmacht march from the time of the Third Reich is running in the marquee.
Nazi scandal in Saxony: Oktoberfest plays Wehrmacht march "Erika"
A video circulating at X (formerly Twitter) is supposed to prove the incident. The recording probably comes from the aforementioned Oktoberfest. As reported by Bild, the Saxon police and state security have now initiated investigations. According to the tweet, the march played was the song "Erika", which the Oberstfeldmeister at the Reichsmusikzug of the Reich Labor Service, Herms Niel, had once composed for the Nazis.
The Saxony police had reacted to the corresponding posting at X. The video had been secured and forwarded to the responsible police department, the authorities said. And further: The video will now be examined. The criminal investigation department is investigating.

"We have secured your video and sent it to the relevant police department. However, the better way would have been to call the station directly. A message about X always entails unnecessary time delays. Nevertheless, thank you for your hint," it said in a tweet from the Saxony police. "Erika" was popular during World War II and was used for Nazi propaganda. The song is not banned, but the Hitler salute, which, according to the video, is said to have been shown by a woman and three men.

Niels had been a member of the NSDAP since May 1933 and conducted, for example, the music processions at the Nazi party rallies in Nuremberg. He composed several National Socialist marches such as "Stuka over Africa" (dive bomber), "Comrade, we march west" or "It's about the fatherland". As of Monday noon (25 September, 12.45 p.m.), there was no statement from the Oktoberfest itself as to why a Wehrmacht march was being played. It was also unclear at the time whether the people from the video could be identified.
