Munich – Schlager star Michelle (51) and her partner Eric Philippi (26) made plenty of headlines with their relationship. After all, he is significantly younger than her. Especially in the beginning, the two defended their relationship quite effectively in the media. But then the U-turn: After the first media hype has flattened out, you can hardly see the pop dream couple together in public. Now they are even direct competitors.
Michelle and Eric Philippi: After a big outing only separately on TV
It was THE Schlager sensational news: Michelle and Eric Philippi are a couple. They don't mind the age difference of 25 years. There has been speculation for some time, at the "Schlagerbooom" by Florian Silbereisen (41) Michelle and Eric Philippi then confirmed the love rumors.
Since then, they have been inseparable – at least privately. Professionally, however, it seems important to them to continue to be on stage as individual artists and not as "the new Schlager dream couple". On Friday (29.09.2023), the two will now even compete against each other in a TV duel.
Michelle's most successful hit is a duet with her ex
Over the course of her 30-year career, Michelle has sung many hits, but none have sold as well as 2018's "Not Deserved". Exciting: The song is a duet with her ex Matthias Reim. A total of 200,000 units were sold of the gold-certified single, it reached number 94 in the German charts.
Schlagerduell: Michelle and her Eric Philippi compete against each other
Michelle will help a Schlager newcomer with Florian Silbereisen's "Schlagerchance" on MDR. The other three celebrity godparents are DJ Ötzi, Frank Schöbel and Eloy de Jong. At the same time, Eric Philippi will appear on SWR and will provide musical accompaniment to the election of the German Wine Queen. So it remains to be seen who will win the primetime ratings duel. However, fans will have to do without further public turmoil for the time being.
