Due to several accidents on the Autobahn 2 near Helmstedt and Magdeburg, traffic there was severely hindered on Tuesday morning. In an accident on the A2 near Helmstedt in the morning, two people were injured, one of them seriously, as the police announced. According to the information, a total of three vehicles - a truck, a car and a pickup truck - had collided.
Helmstedt/Magdeburg - The two injured were taken to hospital. The accident occurred between the Helmstedt-Ost and Helmstedt-Zentrum junctions in the direction of Braunschweig. The highway was fully closed for a short time.
On the A2 between Magdeburg and Hanover, there were two accidents with trucks. The highway is still fully closed in both directions in the morning. Between the exits Eilsleben and Bornstedt, the road to Berlin is closed at least until noon, as the police announced. Further west, the oncoming lane at the Alleringersleben exit is also closed after another rear-end collision.
A truck had hit the crash barriers at a construction site and tipped over to the side. According to police, the vehicle was loaded with one-liter packs of engine oil, which were damaged in the accident. The 53-year-old driver was slightly injured. There was also a rear-end collision with a truck on the oncoming lane further west.
