FUNCHAL

In the morning you will explore the beautiful gardens of Palheiro. The latter enjoy a privileged location on the heights of Funchal, which contributes to their reputation as the most beautiful gardens on the island. Immerse yourself in the fascinating history of this veritable Garden of Eden, whose first owner, the Count of Carvalhal, imported exotic plants and trees from all over the world in 1801.

You will then visit the Madeira Botanical Garden, a beautiful park home to more than 2,000 species of exotic plants, some of which are on the verge of extinction in their homeland. It is a true conservatory of the world's flora, including a research area that aims to preserve endangered species.

Lunch at the restaurant

Privilege Figaro: In the afternoon, you will take part in one of Madeira's most emblematic events: the Flower Festival.

For several weeks, the streets of Funchal are covered with thousands of flowers that exhale the sweetest scents. The nickname "floating garden of the Atlantic" then takes on its full meaning for the island.

Originally named "Festival of Roses" when it was inaugurated in 1954, the event quickly became a real tradition. In 1979, it was transformed into the "Flower Festival" and since then attracts thousands of visitors every year.

At each edition, the party opens with the procession of children. Dressed in flower costumes, hundreds of children parade through the streets of Funchal to the Town Hall Square, on the cobblestones of which each lays a flower. This is followed by a magnificent release of doves.

Then begins the splendid allegorical procession of the flower. This is undoubtedly the most spectacular parade of the festival. For more than two hours, thousands of people parade on floats adorned with a multitude of flowers.

Throughout this event, visitors also enjoy admiring the flower carpets and floral installations that adorn the streets and monuments of Funchal.

You will end your day with a typical traditional dinner at Quinta Magnólia, a restaurant nestled in the heart of a beautiful park home to an exceptional variety of plants imported from all over the world.
