On Sunday night, the Cuban Embassy in Washington registered an aggression with two Molotov cocktails by a person who until Tuesday remained unidentified by the US authorities. Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez Padilla released the security camera videos at the time of the attack.
The videos show the person preparing the incendiary devices for several minutes, even as other pedestrians pass by. It is the second time that the embassy has registered an attack since its reopening in 2015. Two years ago, a man fired a rifle into the building, damaging the structure.
This weekend's incident occurred in a context of tension over Díaz-Canel's visit to New York to participate in the United Nations General Assembly. During the event, other protests by Cubans in exile were recorded.
