With black-red-gold ties, the AfD parliamentary group has wanted to underline the topic of its debate publicly: It tried on Wednesday with a motion to enforce that all public buildings in Baden-Württemberg are also flagged with the federal flag. MP Miguel Klauß claimed in the plenary session in Stuttgart that the national flag should be abolished by "left-wing haters of Germany".
Stuttgart - Schools and universities should also be flagged in German colors, according to the application.
All the other groups were against it. Interior Minister Thomas Strobl (CDU) spoke of a "non-law". The AfD has no respect for the free democratic basic order. "You're not doing yourself any favors by walking around like a flagpole," Green MP Daniel Lede Abal commented on the action.
"Fortunately, the colors of our ties are up to everyone. And, of course, we are also happy about different color combinations here," said Deputy President of the Landtag Daniel Born about the AfD's tie change during the debate. "I can only really ask that tie changes, colour changes, wardrobe changes do not take place here in the Chamber. I'll say that in advance, in case someone comes up with the idea of changing something other than the tie." dpa
