(ANSA) - ROME, SEP 27 - A Bologna appeals court on Wednesdayupheld a life sentence for former NAR rightist terror groupmember Gilberto Cavallini for his part in the August 2, 1980Bologna train station bombing that killed 85 people and injured200.
Cavallini was again found guilty of helping convicted bombersGiuseppe Valerio (Giusva) Fioravanti, his girlfriend FrancescaMambro and Luigi Ciavardini, all NAR members.
The Bologna massacre was a terrorist bombing of the CentralStation at Bologna on the morning of 2 August 1980, carried outby the neo-fascist terrorist organization Nuclei ArmatiRivoluzionari (NAR, Armed Revolutionary Groups), which hasalways denied any involvement.
Other theories have been proposed, especially in correlationwith the rightist 'strategy of tension' designed to keep theItalian Communist Party (PCI) out of power.
