According to the current state of investigation, the 74-year-old man is strongly suspected of having killed his wife and then tried to take his own life. There are currently no indications of the involvement of other persons.
Neighbors in the Gartenberg district heard cries for help and called the police
Neighbors had heard cries for help from an apartment in the Gartenberg district on Tuesday (September 26) around noon shortly before 12 noon and immediately notified the police. The fire brigade, which was then notified, opened the door to the apartment. Inside, the officers then found the body of a 76-year-old woman and the seriously injured husband of the dead.
The 74-year-old came under police guard in a hospital, but is not in mortal danger, according to the doctors. According to the current state of the investigation, the man killed his wife in the apartment on Monday evening (September 25) with a knife. "After that, he tried to take his own life. Because this failed, he called for help the next day," the police said.
Motive and background to the cause of death still unclear
Under the direction of the Munich II public prosecutor's office, the WeilheimCriminal Investigation Department is now investigating the homicide against the urgently suspected 74-year-old. Together with detectives from the forensics department, the investigators took over the investigations at the crime scene. At present, no information can be given on the background of the crime, in particular on the motive for the homicide.
