A 76-year-old Geretsriederin has been found lifeless in her apartment. The police assume a homicide, the husband of the woman is considered an urgent suspect.
Geretsried - A Geretsried woman has been found dead in her apartment, her husband tried to take his own life, according to police. The 74-year-old is strongly suspected of killing his wife. The police headquarters of Upper Bavaria South in Rosenheim has just published a press release:
"On Tuesday, September 26, police found the body of a woman and her seriously injured husband in an apartment in Geretsried. According to the current state of investigation, the man is strongly suspected of having killed his wife and then tried to take his own life. There are currently no indications of the involvement of other persons. Under the direction of the Munich II Public Prosecutor's Office, the K1 Specialist Commissariat of the Weilheim Criminal Investigation Department is investigating the case.
Neighbors heard cries for help from the apartment
Neighbors had heard cries for help from an apartment in the Gartenberg district on Tuesday (September 26) around noon shortly before 12 noon and informed the police. The fire brigade opened the apartment, inside the police officers found the body of a 76-year-old woman and the seriously injured husband of the dead. The 74-year-old came under police guard in a hospital, but is not in mortal danger, according to the doctors.
Police: Husband killed 76-year-old with a knife
According to the current state of the investigation, the man killed his wife in the apartment on Monday evening (September 25) with a knife. After that, he tried to take his own life. Because this failed, he called for help the next day.
Under the direction of the Munich II public prosecutor's office, the K1 department of the Weilheim criminal investigation department is now investigating a homicide against the urgently suspected 74-year-old. Together with detectives from the forensics department, the investigators took over the investigations at the crime scene. At present, no information can be given on the background of the crime, in particular on the motive for the homicide. The investigation is ongoing." (cce)
