The Mainz University Medical Center, which has been burdened by internal disputes for months, is almost completely reorganizing itself on the board. The previous commercial director Christian Elsner, who has come under heavy criticism for his austerity course, will leave the university medicine at the end of September, as State Secretary for Science and Chairman of the Supervisory Board Denis Alt (SPD) said on Wednesday in Mainz.
Mainz - It was mutually agreed on his dismissal, said Alt. His contract would have run until 2026, he will receive a severance payment of 500,000 euros, according to the information. His successor from November will be the current Chancellor of Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz, Waltraud Kreutz-Gers.
A new medical and a new scientific board have also been found - the positions are to be filled on a rotational basis. As of January 1, 2024, Ralf Kiesslich from Helios-Kliniken will join as medical director and chairman of the board from Wiesbaden. For the position of scientific director, Thomas Kamradt is to be proposed to the faculty council in April 2024, here an election for the appointment is necessary. From the beginning of 2024, Science Minister Clemens Hoch (SPD) will take over the chairmanship of the Supervisory Board of the University Medical Center from State Secretary Alt. dpa
