If you use public transport on holiday, you will often be surprised. In Albania, a man from Munich climbed into an MVV bus that took him to his destination.

Munich - The Albanian Riviera is increasingly becoming the destination of Europeans who used to travel to Croatia or Italy. However, there is now increasing experience that the popular tourist and holiday destinations are too expensive or overcrowded for some. Just recently, a vacationer in Croatia reported on a beer cevapcici bill that had it all, or the Flaucherfranzl of unpleasant scenes on an Italian beach.

That's why many holidaymakers switch to alternative travel lines. Like Albania, for example. There is a lot to discover in the country and, in addition to a relaxed beach holiday, there are also attractive excursion destinations. A 29-year-old from Munich and his girlfriend chose exactly that country. The journey was slightly unusual, but at least eventful. Via Corfu we took the ferry to Albania.

MVV bus transports holidaymakers to Albania from Munich in national park

On one of the following days, the couple wanted to take a trip to the Butrinit National Park and waited in Ksamil for the bus from Saranda. When he arrived, their eyes widened and the couple had to shake themselves briefly, because an MVV bus drove up. Even the digital aperture with "MVV company drive" was still set. "The bus cost one euro per person," says the Munich tz.de. He also sent photos to our editors.

"MVV is well aware that former MVV regional buses are on the road in Albania. It can also happen to you in Turkey, Bratislava or northern Germany that you see such a discarded vehicle," said the MVV press office in response to a question from our editors. The spokeswoman also explains the background: "Transport companies that operate their buses on behalf of the Munich Transport Association can sell their vehicles if they no longer have any use for them in MVV regional bus transport and the vehicle is no longer economical from their point of view, for example."

"MVV company trip" or Wuppertal Corona warnings: Munich residents experience amusing things on holiday

On the way to the national park, the Munich native also experienced amusing scenes. In the opposite lane, other buses came on, some of them a discarded German, which even stopped for minutes for a short chat. "Some of the bus drivers stopped in the middle of the journey and talked to each other. Once they even swapped seats and the other bus driver reparked."

The MVV bus can be seen from a distance, as the design has remained unchanged. Even this is not uncommon, according to MVV: "In the case of a sale, it is up to the owner to decide whether to change it - or not to do so". Theoretically, it is even possible for private individuals to negotiate with the transport company and acquire one.

We can only speculate as to why "MVV company trip" is still displayed. "Presumably, the on-board computer was also sold. But it could also be that the display is 'defective' and 'frozen'," says MVV. No problem for the couple from Munich, because they came to their desired location and back again. They even made a trip on their vacation with a Wuppertal bus, which even had the Corona warning labels from 2021 still hanging.

It's not just Munich residents who go on holiday, but Munich is also a good place to be. But a hotspot does not come off well in the tourist ranking. The Oktoberfest also attracts many tourists to the city, who are blown away by two Oktoberfest waitresses in particular. One wears 13 measures at a time, another is considered the most beautiful waiter.
