Modesty, beautiful subject! Especially in times of great scruffiness. Claire Roquigny, 43, the author of this graphic novel full of charm, talent and humor, approaches it by telling her life as a little girl, teenager and young woman afflicted with a modesty that tormented her for a long time: she did not feel normal. Why was she so ashamed of her body when her family was not particularly prudish?
Her story is punctuated by some very well brought sequences that show what torments she went through while working on this book: there is indeed a strange paradox to stage oneself and to tell personal anecdotes when one hates to reveal oneself. Claire Roquigny takes up the challenge hands down. His story is written and drawn with a beautiful modesty, in line and tone, of that modesty which is the other name for elegance of soul.
