A 71-year-old woman in the parking lot of the Norma branch in Schongau made a very strange sight early Wednesday morning.
Schongau – The viewer was shown a completely battered entrance at the front of the discounter. Countless cracks and cracks ran through the glass of the automatic sliding door. In the access area, in addition to a crushed mesh trash can and some cardboard boxes, there were also parts of the destroyed portal.
The woman's mini-SUV, which was badly damaged at the front, left no doubt as to what had happened in front of the branch in the early morning.
Fire brigade commander Werner Berchtold and association leader Uwe Wieland said that the woman had probably crashed into the entrance area of the discounter in a 180-degree arc. As she herself is said to have said, her foot had caught between the accelerator and brake pedals, whereupon she had probably driven to the supermarket with "full material", as the fire brigade put it.

One could speak of luck that in the parking lot "no one was on the road with the shopping cart," said Berchtold, who traced the course of the wild ride in an interview with the local newspaper.
This was initially done across a green strip dividing the parking lot, whereupon a traffic sign was then torn down. In the end, the woman had only come to a stop in the entrance area of the supermarket. According to the fire brigade, there was fortunately no one at the time of the impact.

At 9:40 a.m., they received the report, Berchtold said. Initially, there was still talk of a "trapped person". In fact, the woman was slightly injured as a result of the accident. First and foremost, however, she was shocked, it said.

"With 25 people and four vehicles," security measures were then taken, Berchtold said. Since the entrance to the branch is currently still impassable, customers entering must now be content with the exit for the time being.
According to the police, the damage to the car and building amounts to approximately 10,000 euros.
