Highlights: Lindner goes after climate glue – and compares the activists with the AfD. Lindner sees the climate activists of the "Last Generation" as a similarly great danger to prosperity in Germany. "Climate glue and AfD - their programs lead to the fact that Germany would be economically ruined," Lindner said on Thursday (28 September) at a conference of the news portal The Pioneer in Berlin. For Lindner, the "Last Generation" and the AfD are existential threats to the economy. Both have the same goal, according to the Minister of Finance.

Berlin - Federal Finance Minister Christian Lindner (FDP) sees the climate activists of the "Last Generation" as a similarly great danger to prosperity in Germany as in the largely right-wing extremist AfD. "Climate glue and AfD - their programs lead to the fact that Germany would be economically ruined," Lindner said on Thursday (28 September) at a conference of the news portal The Pioneer in Berlin.

While the climate glue program has "enormous impact on our economic stability," the AfD's plan to lead Germany out of the European Union is also devastating. The EU is the largest sales market for the German economy. Compared to this scenario, Brexit is "just a premonition," Lindner said. "I want to put this quite provocatively in parallel: They also want another country, the AfD – just like the climate glue," said the FDP leader.

Climate glue of the "last generation" continues road blockades in Berlin

Meanwhile, the most active members of the "Last Generation" continue their road blockades and continue to concentrate their activities on the capital Berlin. There, on Thursday morning (28 September), they blocked traffic on the A9 city motorway near the exhibition grounds. The climate stickers drove onto the highway with three rented cars, stopped on the roadway and glued themselves to their vehicles with their hands. As Spiegel Online reported, they are also said to have chained themselves to the cars with metal clamps.

The police broke up the blockade at an early stage. It was deployed with a total of 300 officers, as there were roadblocks of the "Last Generation" in other places at the same time. There is also criticism of the consistent action of the state power against the actions of the climate glue. Only recently, Amnesty International put Germany on an outlawing list - because of the alleged suppression of protests by climate activists. (With agency material)
