(ANSA) - ROME, SEP 28 - Premier Giorgia Meloni and Businessand Made in Italy Minister Adolfo Urso on Thursday signed a pact for an "anti-inflation quarter" with representatives ofItalian retail, distribution and industry associations.
The pact will make a basket of controlled, low-price basicnecessities available to consumers from October 1 until December31.
"This pact is an instrument which we will use to work togetherto lower prices on the major widely consumed goods," Meloni saidafter signing the pact at the premier's office at Palazzo Chigi.
"It's an initiative that has a value that goes beyond theeconomic sphere.
"It is a good message to the nation, to the Italian people, onthe ability that Italy still has in times of difficulty to worktogether, to try to move as a community to achieve goals".
The premier said it was the first pact of its kind and may beextended if it proves to be a success. (ANSA).
