Andy Borg always takes a lot of time for his fans - this also applies to the "Schlager fun". But what a viewer entrusts to him, he can't believe at first.
Offenburg – Andy Borg (62) returns from the summer break. The ARD program "Schlager-Spaß" will finally flicker across the TV screens again on September 30. He also took time to answer his fan mail. He had to smile about the letter from Schlager fan Ottmar, because he reports on a night in the forest that didn't go quite so well – because of Andy Borg.
At shepherd's hour in the forest: Schlager fan collects slap in the face because of Andy Borg
"I have a letter here, I MUST read it to you. We've never dealt with this topic in Schlager fun, and I've never received a similar letter," grins Andy Borg. "It says: Dear Andy Borg. Today I would like to tell you something. 40 years ago I met my wife and whenever we were in the car, the song 'Adios Amore' was playing. Which slowly ran out to my ears," admits Schlager fan Ottmar.
"When we stopped in the forest, for a shepherd's hour, the song was playing again. And then it happened: I took the cassette and threw it out into the forest. As a result, I received a slap in the face," Ottmar continues. Andy Borg can't believe it and assures: "I swear to you: I received this letter in the same way".
He continues: "At the time, I swore to myself that I would one day tell Andy Borg that I would get a slap in the face because of him. Thus, after 30 years of marriage to this woman, I managed to write you this letter." But today, the two are big fans of the show and don't miss an episode. "They are lonely top class. Thank you for this beautiful music," says Ottmar.
Did you know? Andy Borg's name isn't Andy Borg
Andy Borg's real name is actually Adolf Andreas Meyer. However, one can imagine that as an Austrian after 1945 it is not exactly an advantage to be called Adolf – that's why he first appeared as Adi Meyer. Since his big breakthrough with "Adios Amor" in 1982, he has been known as Andy Borg.
Annoying song as a love killer? Andy Borg was once in a "similar situation"
"This story is fantastic," smiles Andy Borg after putting the letter aside. "He can't hear me anymore at the shepherd's hour in the forest and throws my cassette into the forest," he sums up Ottmar's confession, shaking his head, and then lets us look deeply himself. "I'll admit it honestly: I'm just not saying which cassette I've thrown out of the window before – in a similar situation." But now he has the right song, he assures and starts singing "Is the reputation ruined".
