Bad Emstal – The case of the dead Marie Sophie from the district of Kassel has shaken the whole of Germany. The body of the 14-year-old was discovered on Thursday evening in Bad Emstal, previously she had been reported missing. However, the investigation is in full swing. Case of Marie Sophie from Bad Emstal: Who is the arrested man?
The man arrested on Thursday evening is a 20-year-old acquaintance of the dead. He comes from the district of Kassel. "Due to further investigations and searches, the first suspicions against him could be substantiated," the police said. "He is now strongly suspected of being responsible for the death of the 14-year-old," the officials write.
The relationship between the two is not known.

Since the girl was already missing, the police had launched a large search operation around Bad Emstal. "As part of the search" in a wooded area near the district of Sand, the body of the young people had been discovered. An emergency doctor called in could only determine her death. In a first report by the police on Thursday evening, the officers said that the girl was found "as part of the search for the 14-year-old from Bad Emstal, who has been missing since yesterday". The next morning, a police spokesman told dpa that it was currently not possible to comment on who exactly had found the body. The reason for this is "investigative tactical reasons".

The police cordoned off the area around the site extensively. The work of forensics lasted until Friday morning around 4.30 a.m. The fire brigade was on site to illuminate the area. In addition, a drone was used. On Friday, there was only some remaining work at the site, according to the police.
