Former DSDS candidate Helmut Orosz has been struggling with drug and alcohol addictions for a long time. Now he is clean at first, but has been suffering from anxiety ever since.
Hanover – When one ailment replaces the other ... this is how Helmut Orosz (44) would probably describe his current situation. The singer has been a household name to the sworn fans of "Deutschland sucht den Superstar" since 2010, when he wanted to become successful as a participant there. His addiction threw a spanner in the works at the time and today it is also fears that paralyze him.

Helmut Orosz had great potential when he took part in the seventh season of "Deutschland sucht den Superstar" in 2010. He made it to 6th place, but was then disqualified for drug use. At that time, drugs and alcohol were his means of combating stage fright.
Orosz now confessed to Bild.de: "I always secretly drank three short drinks before I went on stage." And that's not all: "When I greeted Dieter Bohlen backstage, I went to the toilet afterwards and pulled a line of coke to deal with the excitement."
In the end, Mehrzad Marashi (43) won the seventh season. Menowin Fröhlich (36) finished in second place.

Helmut Orosz refrained from drugs after DSDS, even though it took years before he had the addictions under control. Today, he reports that he has not used alcohol or drugs for a year. Instead, the addictions were replaced by mental health problems, which now even forced him to cancel a concert.

Helmut Orosz has panic attacks and anxiety "because I'm afraid of failing". He is also afraid of relapsing again, because he has realized: "Obviously, I have unconsciously suffered from panic attacks for a long time, but I used to numb them with alcohol and drugs." A way out that he definitely does not want to take again today. All that remains for him to do is to wish that he can break out of this vicious circle ...
