The outward appearance of Vladimir Putin is always the subject of speculation. The appearance of the president has changed significantly.
Moscow – Numerous conjectures about Vladimir Putin's health, from Parkinson's disease to back problems, are already being discussed in public. Now rumors are spreading about a variety of cosmetic treatments. This is reported by t-online and the British The Sun, among others.
Vladimir Putin: Cosmetic surgery on the president?
It is obvious that over time, the Russian president has changed visually. However, the Kremlin rarely reveals information about Putin's state of health. Now the well-known British cosmetic surgeon Gerard Lambe spoke out about possible beauty procedures for the Russian despot. In an interview with the British newspaper The Sun, the expert considered Botox and cheek fillers to be likely.
Of course, for the physician, most of the visual changes are due to natural aging and professional challenges. However, the beauty doc emphasizes that he can see clear signs of cosmetic procedures, especially in the facial structure of Putin.
Putin and the search for eternal youth?
Pharmacist and writer Randall Higgins agrees with Gerard Lambe, telling The Sun: "The change from a slimmer, wrinkled face to a more puffy and vigorous physique may indicate a few things." He also believes that Putin has at least had his cheeks filled in "to give his face more fullness or to reshape it."
Lord David Owen, a physician and former British foreign secretary, suspects more behind Putin's physical changes: "The search for eternal youth is quite common among the rich and powerful." Lord Owen has written several times over the years about the hubris syndrome and its impact on leaders. Many decision-makers are particularly affected by this in politics and business. Individuals with hubris syndrome tend to change their personality dramatically as soon as they take on leadership roles.

Reports: "Steroid mania" with Putin?
Experts suspect that there could be other explanations for Putin's changed face. Previous reports have said that the Russian politician may be in a "steroid frenzy". Owen explained, "When speculation began that Putin's face had changed over the years, I initially thought he was taking corticosteroids and maybe even the muscle-building form, anabolic steroids."
James Dixon, a fitness coach and author, told The Sun that it's important to clarify what kind of steroids Putin is using. This is the only way to get a deeper insight into his situation. "The changes in Putin's face, such as the fuller cheeks, are accompanied by some of the clear signs of taking steroids that are commonly seen in the fitness world," the fitness expert explained. Likewise, he said, "For really bad diseases like cancer, they can be part of the treatment plan to alleviate the symptoms and side effects. In fitness and bodybuilding, anabolic steroids are sometimes used to increase muscle growth and physical performance."
