The search for 14-year-old Marie Sophie from Bad Emstal, who has been missing since Wednesday evening, ended on Thursday evening with sad certainty.

Update from 13:30 p.m.: Two days after a 14-year-old girl was found dead in Bad Emstal in northern Hesse, the investigation continues. A police spokesman said on Saturday. However, he did not give any further details with reference to the public prosecutor's office.
Dozens of candles and police flutter tape were still visible on Saturday on the dirt road in Bad Emstal, where the body was found. Numerous flowers and a large, white plush teddy lay on a fence. Pieces of paper and stones in front of the girl's school read "Why??? - Rest in peace" and "We miss you".

Update from 7:34 a.m.: After the death of a 14-year-old from northern Hesse, another family member of the girl has commented on the alleged perpetrator. The 20-year-old acquaintance of Marie Sophie allegedly wanted a relationship. "She felt too young. Then he would probably have said: 'If I can't have you, then no one,'" an aunt told Bild.
The girl's mother had already publicly commented on the 20-year-old suspect from the district of Kassel. Accordingly, the two should not have had any contact. "But he was just obsessed with her," she said in an interview with RTL. For the mother, it quickly became clear: "I immediately said who it was."
According to police, the man is a "friendly acquaintance of the victim". "I've seen the two of them together regularly for a month," a bus driver told Bild. According to the Kassel public prosecutor's office and the North Hesse police headquarters, an arrest warrant was issued against the 20-year-old on Friday on suspicion of murder. The man is now in custody.

The whole village is horrified that something like this is happening here," said one resident. Her daughter attends a parallel class of the victim and has completed primary school with her.

The police had already questioned the man as part of the search for the young person missing since Wednesday. After the body of the 14-year-old was found, he had moved "into the focus of the investigation" due to the information he had made at the time. A search of his person and also of an apartment in which he had previously stayed had confirmed the initial suspicion. The victim's mobile phone and other evidence were found and secured.
