Is there new hope for the Tölzer Post? At least talks were now taking place. © Archive
Over 1100 people have signed the petition to receive the mail. And lo and behold, things are moving.
Bad Tölz – More than 1100 people have signed for the preservation of the Tölzer Post on Hindenburgstraße. This is now announced by initiator Robert Keller after the petition "Tölzer Post must stay!" has ended. And there is even the prospect that there could be a branch at this point again. Of course, he wanted the site to reopen immediately, says Keller. But he remains realistic. "In this respect, this is the best we could achieve," he says. He had done a lot of door-to-door work, distributed many flyers to draw attention to the issue. "I also wrote to companies and had many direct contacts."
Talks have taken place
Finally, there had been a conversation with representatives of the post office, Mayor Ingo Mehner, city council members and him. "We explained our problem," Keller says. "The post office approached us." As a result, Swiss Post is once again considering Hindenburgstraße as a location for a branch. The solution with the post offices on Sachsenkamer and Königsdorfer Straße is "provisionally good. It's better to have something like that than nothing at all."
The plans for the Post site, which the Worbs family has bought, are now decisive. "If a food retailer comes in there, it would be perfect," Keller says. Because then you can – as is often the case – install a partner branch.
Worbs: "We would like to include a post"
"We would like to include a post here," says Kai Worbs. "The old town absolutely needs it." Most recently, they have spoken with architects, engineers and various partners to explore ideas. "Next, we need to put everything on paper," Worbs said. It is a "huge project", so fundamental consideration is needed as to how to implement the ideas.
As reported, the "Aureus GmbH" of the Worbs family would like to rebuild and modernize the entire post office complex. The ideas, which were published in April, range from a multi-storey car park to a rooftop bar to a local supplier – with mail.
That's what Swiss Post says
Klaus-Dieter Nawrath, spokesman for Deutsche Post, announced on request: "For various reasons, there may be changes at partner branches, for example due to business closures or terminations." As reported, the post office on Hindenburgstraße had closed because the Postbank, which operated it, gave up the location. "Regardless of this, we are of course always working on optimising our services and thus also our branch locations," Nawrath continues. Therefore, it could well come to a partner branch in Hindenburgstraße. "Understandably, we can't give details yet. We have also communicated this to the city."

My Area
Robert Keller is optimistic. It is important that Swiss Post has thought about the location. "The future can only get better."
