After the publication of chats, which are said to have been sent by Frankfurt police officers, the Hessian Ministry of the Interior has referred to the disciplinary measures already imposed for this reason. As early as 2018, disciplinary proceedings against five officers had been initiated within the police, the Ministry of the Interior said on Sunday in Wiesbaden.
Wiesbaden - Within the scope of the legal possibilities, bans on the conduct of official business as well as dismissals of service had been pronounced, "so that none of the officials concerned is actively on duty". However, due to ongoing criminal proceedings on the merits, the disciplinary proceedings are "suspended until the final conclusion of the criminal proceedings".
In the program "ZDF Magazin Royale", Jan Böhmermann had shown pictures and texts as well as comments from the basically already known chats, which were directed against refugees, Jews, women and the disabled. The public prosecutor's office in Frankfurt had brought charges in January last year, but the Frankfurt Regional Court refused to open the main proceedings. The public prosecutor's office appealed against this decision. A decision "is still pending," the ministry said.
The Frankfurt police headquarters also referred to a provisional dismissal of three of the five officers. In the case of one police officer, 40 percent of the salary would be withheld, in the case of another, this would not be possible for economic reasons. In a third case, an official had filed a lawsuit against his provisional dismissal, the court decision was still pending, it said. In the case of this official, 50 percent of the salary should be withheld. In Böhmermann's broadcast, it was said, with reference to a media report from May, that the officials received "full pay for years".
According to the police headquarters, the two remaining officers do not meet the legal requirements for provisional dismissal, but they are still prohibited from conducting official business. Dpa
