In the video: Police investigate: More than 40 cars set on fire in Or Akiva/Shlomi Gabbay
Six vehicles caught fire Monday night on Tabor Street in Or Akiva. Firefighters were called to the scene, extinguished the flames and prevented them from spreading to other cars parked in the area. Thus, the number of vehicles set on fire in the past month in Or Akiva and Hadera rose to more than 40.
The incident was reported to the Fire and Rescue Service at around 3:30 A.M. Crews were called to the scene and gained control of the flames, which consumed six vehicles. Yesterday afternoon, two suspects were arrested in the series of arson attacks in Or Akiva and Hadera, and they will be brought later in the day for a hearing at the Hadera Magistrate's Court.

One of the suspects, a 38-year-old resident of Or Akiva, is a criminal known to the police. The investigation revealed that he intended to set fire to other vehicles. During his arrest, he spotted police vehicles and tried to flee from the officers. Joint activity by the police and the Border Police led to his capture.
The investigation revealed that the suspect sent his men to set fire to civilian vehicles in retaliation for the police "harassing him", the suspect was arrested twice on suspicion of involvement in arson but was released due to lack of evidence.
