Raft rides and paddle boats on the Isar, surfing on the Eisbach wave: Munich residents are already familiar with all this. A wakeboarder now dared to climb the Isar.
Munich – The Eisbachwelle is a popular hotspot for surfers and is known far beyond Munich's city limits. For more than 40 years, all waves have been able to ride there. From April to May, an AI-powered light show was even installed there – which also attracted politicians to the English Garden. And water sports enthusiasts also get their money's worth on the Isar: every year you can raft there. One or the other paddle boat has also been spotted. Now, however, a hitherto unknown person has ventured into another sport on the Isar.

In pictures shared by a user on the platform "X" – formerly Twitter – on Tuesday, September 26, you can see a man surfing with a wakeboard on the Isar in Munich. The athlete stands with his board parallel to the Flauchsteg – there is a ski jump under the bridge. He prepares for the jump, and then whizzes behind the barrage. An acquaintance films the daring jump from below. Numerous onlookers on the bridge watching the wakeboarder can also be seen in the pictures.
But how did the surfer build up his speed and excitement? A user under the X post also asked himself: "Where does he get the speed from?" The photographer's answer: by means of an automatic cable pull. The individual reactions under the post for the wakeboard action of the unknown are positive. For example, one user writes: "How cool!"
