The Day of German Unity gets off to a sunny start in Franconia, and the temperatures are once again summery. Then there is a threat of a small change in the weather.
Nuremberg - October has begun in large parts of Bavaria as September ended: with bright sunshine and up to 27 degrees. In Franconia, temperatures of up to 28 degrees were initially predicted for the Day of German Unity.

Whether there will really be new heat records on Tuesday, October 3, is still uncertain. This would require at least 27.7 degrees in Bamberg and 27.8 degrees in Nuremberg. "This will work 30% in Bamberg and 60% in Nuremberg," estimates weather expert Stefan Ochs (wetterochs.de).

Sunny holiday: Cold front over Franconia in the evening
According to the latest weather forecast for the Regnitz region, the sun will shine undisturbed until around 3 p.m. on Tuesday, October 14. In the course of the afternoon, however, the clouds will thicken, "between 18 and 20 p.m., a cold front will cross us with its probably only weakly pronounced rain band," predicts the weather expert.
From Wednesday to Friday, a high with a focus over northern France will determine the weather. According to Ochs, it will be cloudy with longer intermediate brightenings. But it's not supposed to rain. Temperatures settle at a maximum of 18 to 19 degrees.

Weather at the weekend: summer days or low with gusts of wind and rain?
According to the weather expert, there are two variants for the coming weekend:
- 75 percent of the high is moving towards Franconia "and we get two beautiful sunny and windless autumn days". The temperatures would rise to 23 and 25 degrees respectively.
- 25 percent of the high retreats a bit to France. Low-lying foothills would then bring cloud fields to Franconia. Locally, little rain and strong gusts of wind would be possible. The temperatures would then be 19 and 23 degrees respectively.
In other parts of Germany, the weather is far less pleasant on the holiday. Weather warnings have been in place for Lower Saxony since the morning.
