A vacationer (88) has lost her wedding ring at Lake Tegernsee. It's a very special piece.
Kaltenbrunn/Bad Wiessee – It was a wonderful holiday week that Steffi Paeckel spent with a friend at Lake Tegernsee at the beginning of September. But the stay was also associated with a painful loss: The 88-year-old from Ottobrunn lost her wedding ring here. The piece of jewelry also means so much to Paeckel because after the death of her husband eight years ago, his wedding ring was also incorporated into it. It's like two rings in one.
"At first, I couldn't even imagine how much I would miss the ring," says the Ottobrunn native. With a call for a possible finder to come forward, she turned to our newspaper in her desperation. "There are just so many memories and emotions attached to the ring," she says. After all, Paeckel was married to her husband Kurt for 57 years, and the gold ring was her constant companion even after that.

Wedding ring lost at Lake Tegernsee: memory of deceased husband
The 88-year-old stayed at Lake Tegernsee from August 31 to September 7, vacationing in a bed-and-breakfast hotel in Bad Wiessee. She is very good at narrowing down the time she lost the ring. It must have happened as part of an excursion to the Day of Brass Music at Gut Kaltenbrunn on September 3. Recklessly, she did not wear the ring on her ring finger that day – as usual – because it had become too tight for her because of the heat there. Instead, she put the ring on her little finger. At some point during her visit to the Day of Brass Music or at the subsequent dinner in the Terrassenhof in Bad Wiessee, he must have slipped off her finger. Since then, the ring has disappeared.
Search for lost ring: Hope not yet given up
An inquiry with those responsible in the Terrassenhof and at Gut Kaltenbrunn has so far brought nothing. "They were all very nice, but they didn't find the ring," says the elderly woman. She knows that the chance of getting the "memorial ring", as she calls it, back is very small. But she hasn't completely given up hope.
