Fair weeks in Herrsching and Seefeld: Fewer visitors than desired.
Herrsching – Overall, Christiane Gruber, agenda officer in the Herrsching municipal council and spokesperson for the Fairtrade steering group, is satisfied with the first joint Fair Week between Herrsching and Seefeld. Also this year there was a big program during the nationwide Fair Weeks. The neighbouring municipality of Seefeld has been a Fairtrade municipality since 2021. Herrsching has been an old hand since 2010, so to speak. Together, according to Gruber, the steering groups of both municipalities are now thinking about reintroducing the Agenda Cinema, which Dr. Martin Hirte had organized for many years in Herrsching and most recently in Seefeld.
This year's Fair Weeks were packed with offers. "But the timing is not ideal for Bavaria," says Christiane Gruber. "Nationwide, this may fit very well. For us, it's the first and second week of school when the first parents' evenings and class excursions are due," says the Herrschinger. These dates would compete with the events that take place during the Fair Weeks. "We had hoped for more visitors." At another time, she thinks, there would have been more participants.
The last day of the event was on Friday, there was no balance meeting yet. But after initial discussions, Christiane Gruber can well imagine that there will no longer be Fair Weeks in Herrsching as required nationwide, but instead offers spread over the year beyond the existing offer that India Aid has for schools and daycare centers all year round. Because the Fairtrade idea starts with the children.
For personnel reasons, Indienhilfe was not able to hold a children's rally this year to places where fair trade is already taking place in the community. In return, there had been the opportunity to calculate his ecological footprint, which had been enthusiastically accepted by children. The papermaking and coffee roasting workshops were also well received. But there is room for improvement in the program. "We meet three times a year," says Christiane Gruber. This is not too much time to shy away from cooperation. The six members of the Herrsching steering group and also the Seefeld team would be happy to receive further support for fair cooperation and climate protection. Herrsching has a contact person in the town hall, Franziska Kalz, (0 81 52) 3 74 38, in Seefeld Doris Kömmling is the contact person at fairtrade@agenda-seefeld.de.
