It was a bus that fell from an overpass in Mestre on the railway line. The bus made a flight of about 10 meters: The accident occurred shortly before 20 pm on the overpass of the link road that leads from Mestre to Marghera and the A4 motorway. In the first downhill section the bus, for reasons to be ascertained, broke through the parapet, fell down ending up between a warehouse and the tracks of the Mestre station, catching fire. Some of the first recovered victims would have died charred
The railway line between Mestre and Venice was suspended due to the accident. The bus broke through the fence of the Vempa overpass and fell into the void near the tracks. The USL 3 of Venice has activated the protocol of "major emergencies" which provides for the provision of all hospital emergency rooms, and the call to work of reinforcement personnel.
According to what is learned, the crashed bus, which would be powered by methane, caught fire immediately after the impact. Firefighters are still trying to extinguish the fire.
The provisional toll of the accident involving the crashed bus is at least 18 dead, 15 already transferred to the mortuaries of hospitals in the area. Three more are about to be recovered. The teams are at work because in the middle there would be other people
