The leader of the Free Destourian Party (PDL), one of Tunisia's main opposition parties, was placed in pre-trial detention on Tuesday after being arrested outside the presidential palace, her party's lawyer told AFP. Abir Moussi has been detained, lawyer Naoufel Bouden said, saying the reasons for his arrest remain unknown.
Arrested in front of the presidential palace
"We expect more details tonight or tomorrow," he said. According to her party, Abir Moussi was arrested in front of the presidential palace in Carthage where she had come to file, according to her, appeals against presidential decrees.
In a video posted on the PDL's Facebook page, Abir Moussi claims that the office of the presidency refused to accept his appeal and to give him an acknowledgment of receipt.
