A 32-year-old had slipped on the rain-soaked ground at the Edelweisslahnerkopf and crashed several meters. He was left lying down seriously injured.
Traunstein - The beautiful weather attracts many people to the mountains. Accidents occur again and again, and the mountain rescue service is in constant use. Also on Saturday (30 September) the emergency services received an emergency call.
Friend crashed on descent in the Alps: Vacationer dials emergency call
Around 17:30 p.m., a vacationer from the Czech Republic reported to the Traunstein control center. Her boyfriend (32) had slipped on the rain-soaked ground during the steep descent from the Edelweißlahnerkopf to the Antonigraben on the southeast side of the Reiter Alps at an altitude of around 1800 meters. The 32-year-old had fallen about ten meters and had injured his leg, among other things, seriously and very painfully.
"A relative of a Ramsau mountain rescuer translated the woman's information for the mountain rescue operations leader, who initially stood a bit above the crashed man and suspected an open fracture, but fortunately this was not confirmed," says the press release of the Bavarian Red Cross (BRK). Because of the fog, the crew of the rescue helicopter had no chance to fly directly to the scene.

"Christoph 14" therefore dropped off several Ramsau mountain rescuers and the Schellenberg mountain rescue emergency doctor with extensive equipment for medical care at an altitude of around 1600 meters at the lower cloud boundary in shuttle traffic. From there, the rescue workers climbed up and reached the patient around 18:50 p.m.

At around 19:15 p.m., after a refueling stop, the helicopter was already approaching with two mountain rescuers in order to drop them off at the lower limit of the fog for the further ascent at the onset of darkness. Then, according to the press release, "everything happened at breakneck speed". The emergency services at the scene of the accident reported that the clouds were breaking up and that the Hintersee could be seen again from the mountain. The helicopter crew reacted immediately, was able to fly directly to the scene of the accident, dropped the two mountain rescuers there and took the patient in after first aid. He was taken to the Traunstein Hospital.

"As a result, the Czech and the rescuers were spared a bivouac on the mountain and, alternatively, a long and difficult transport through the terrain, including a 360-metre-high and 540-metre-wide drain route through a gully to the head of the wall, from there about 100 metres in altitude over the rock face to the upper Antonigraben and then further down the path into the valley", the BRK continues.
The man's girlfriend was badly affected after the accident. Emergency services waited with her until another helicopter picked her up at around 21:30 p.m. and flew into the valley. There, the Crisis Intervention Service (KID) of the mountain rescue service continued to take care of the woman. (came)
A man was seriously injured in a crash at the Watzmann, his son suffered an open wound on his leg. The mother had already been worried.
