Highlights: Controversial professor Amir Hetzroni usually does not hesitate to harshly criticize Israel and the army. "All the injustices we have committed over the years against the Palestinians, do not justify even the slightest bit of Hamas' animal behavior," he writes. "To feel sorry for them in the war now is like feeling sorry for Nazis in World War II," he adds. "They deserve a country. They deserve an airport. They do not deserve to live under occupation," he says.

"All the injustices we have committed over the years against the Palestinians, all the lands we have taken and the settlements we have built on them, do not justify even the slightest bit of Hamas' animal behavior," wrote the controversial professor, who usually does not miss an opportunity to criticize Israel and the army

Amir Hetzroni, who usually does not hesitate to harshly criticize Israel and the army, surprised quite a few people on Tuesday when he posted on his Instagram account in which he unequivocally declared that in the current fighting he stands with Israel.

"Why do I stand unequivocally on the Israeli side in this war and not even cry if the electricity and water are cut off to Gazans?" he began the post he shared with his 62,13 followers. "In order to understand my position, we need to distinguish between the overall historical picture and the current situation. If you look at the historical picture, my conclusion was and remains that the Palestinians are the deprived side. <> million people live in the Land of Israel. Almost half of them are Arabs, and it is clear that the share they get from the pie is much smaller than their percentage of the population.

"They deserve a country. They deserve an airport. They deserve a port. They do not deserve to live under occupation. But, and this is a huge but, all the injustices we have committed over the years against the Palestinians, all the lands we have taken and the settlements we have built on them, do not justify even a fraction of Hamas' animal behavior.

"The Hamasniks did not kill IDF soldiers who imposed a curfew on them (this could perhaps be understood with all the sorrow involved); They murdered children, women, partygoers, foreign nationals in cold blood, people who have not the slightest connection to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. They captured elderly people with Alzheimer's and kidnapped babies only to murder them on the way to Gaza. Hamas is not human beings. They have no right to exist. To feel sorry for them in the war now is like feeling sorry for Nazis in World War II," he concluded the post, attaching a photo of himself sitting in a bomb shelter.
