"We were surprised by it": Climate activists smear university buildings with paint

The Last Generation has smeared buildings of the University of Würzburg with paint. The facility was taken by surprise and the police investigated.

Würzburg - Climate activists of the group Letzte Generation have smeared orange paint on the central lecture hall and seminar building of the University of Würzburg. "We were very surprised by this," a spokeswoman for the university said on Tuesday, November 7. After the incident on Tuesday morning, the police initiated investigations against a 24-year-old and a 25-year-old on suspicion of property damage, a spokesman said.

Last generation smears university building in Würzburg

Two other people are said to have put up posters and a banner in the university building. These are not being investigated for the time being. However, the investigation is still at an early stage.

According to the University of Würzburg, there were initially no estimates of the amount of damage. Just recently, climate activists sprayed the library of the University of Passau with orange paint. There was a lot of criticism for this. (kam/dpa)
