Two dead and one injured: this is the toll of the terrible road accident that occurred this Friday at the very end of the morning on the A104, near Villepinte, in Seine-Saint-Denis. The two victims: the ambulance driver and his patient, who lost their lives. Another passenger in the medical vehicle was also taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
It was almost noon when this accident occurred on this busy stretch of the Ile-de-France region, in front of many witnesses. The driver of the ambulance is said to have lost control of his vehicle as the A104, where traffic is on three lanes on this section, then began to make a right turn towards Roissy airport and Val-d'Oise, in particular.
How fast was the driver of this ambulance? Were its flashing lights activated? An investigation will have to determine the precise circumstances of the tragedy, which have not been communicated at this stage.
Ambulance accidents are more common than you might think. In recent weeks, two people have died in accidents involving this type of vehicle in the Manche and Indre et Loire departments. In Essonne in 2022, an ambulance driver lost his life on the N 20 in a collision with two other vehicles, including a heavy goods vehicle.
