Four motorcyclists violently assaulted a motorist in Recoleta and ambushed him, broke his windows and beat him to steal thousands of pesos that he was carrying in a bag.

The incident occurred at 2440 Córdoba Avenue, between Azcuénaga and Larrea in the City of Buenos Aires. According to police sources, it was a "salidera" and the victim was followed by the criminals after having withdrawn money from a bank or financial institution.

Sources of the investigation specified that agents of the Neighborhood Police Station 2B, with jurisdiction in the area, initiated ex officio actions after the video went viral on social networks, because the victim did not make the complaint.

As seen in the video and what was told by some neighbors and merchants on the block, the driver was traveling along Córdoba Avenue, between Azcuénaga and Larrea, when when he stopped at a traffic light he was approached by two criminals who got off two motorcycles and broke the front and rear windows on the left side and began to struggle with the victim.

In those images, it can be seen that the driver resists, but when he was attacked by a robust thief with the hood of a black sweatshirt on and who beat him standing next to the driver's door, an accomplice in a black cap managed to take the bag with the money out of the car through the rear window.

Upon obtaining the loot, the two assailants got on the motorbikes and fled. In the video, it is seen that several wads of bills fell to the asphalt when the person carrying the bag jumped on the seat of one of the motorcycles.

The criminals attack the driver and make off with a bag of money.

Some witnesses and a taxi driver who stopped to assist the victim, then collaborated to collect those wads of money and return them to the assaulted man, neighbors said.

"We are trying to contact the victim so that she can file a complaint at the appropriate police station. We do not rule out that he may have reported it later in another jurisdiction, but proceedings are being initiated and witnesses are being sought," said a police source.

In any case, an ex officio case was initiated, labeled for the moment as an "investigation of illegality" that is in the hands of the National Criminal and Correctional Prosecutor's Office 49, in charge of prosecutor Marcelo Ruilópez.

It was the second robbery that was known to have been committed in the last few hours by motorcyclists in the City of Buenos Aires.

Shortly before, on the corner of Carlos Pellegrini and Tucumán, in the heart of downtown Buenos Aires, four motorcyclists also stole a bag with three million pesos from a motorist that he had withdrawn from a bank, after breaking the windows of the vehicle and struggling with the victim.

As in Recoleta, two of the assailants got off the motorcycles, broke the windows of the car and escaped with a bag in which, according to the victim's later statement, he had three million pesos that he had withdrawn in a bank operation.

That case was reported to the 1D Neighborhood Police Station of the City Police and is being investigated by prosecutor Laura Belloqui, in charge of the National Criminal and Correctional Prosecutor's Office 59, in a case labeled as "robbery."
