As a token of gratitude and appreciation, Interior Minister Moshe Arbel granted Israeli residency to Tsagai, an Eritrean citizen living in Israel, after saving the life of Lt. Col. Y., commander of the northern brigade in Gaza.

"I'm with you until the end"

On the morning of the outbreak of the war, a van loaded with terrorists drove through the city of Sderot and met Lt. Col. Y., who was hit by direct fire and lost consciousness.

Minutes later, Lt. Col. Y. woke up and noticed a passerby leaning over him and stopping the bleeding in his stomach, muttering: "I'm with you until the end." The two spent two hours together in the ditch, surrounded by terrorists passing by and firing in all directions, until they were rescued from the scene to the hospital in a private vehicle.

Upon his release from the hospital, Lt. Col. Y. thanked those who saved his life and appealed to the Minister of the Interior to help arrange his status in Israel.

Interior Minister Moshe Arbel was moved by Mulugata's heroic deed and decided, as a token of gratitude and appreciation for those who sacrificed themselves to save lives, to grant the occasional hero residency in Israel.

"The October 7th is a disaster that affected the entire country," Minister Arbel said. "The least that can be done to pay tribute to those who risked their lives to save the life of an IDF officer is to give Mulugeta the opportunity to live here with dignity. Gratitude is a Jewish value of the highest order."
