In Bavaria, winter is currently flexing its muscles – and enveloping parts of Bavaria with plenty of snow. Continuous use for winter services.
Update, Nov. 28, 16:45 p.m.: Winter has arrived in Bavaria, and the state capital Munich is also covered in a light blanket of snow in the afternoon. As reported by the German Press Agency, there were numerous deployments on Tuesday night: Lower Franconia was particularly affected. In the district of Aschaffenburg alone, the fire brigade was called out around 130 times on Tuesday night. This was announced by the district office on Tuesday morning.
In view of the weather conditions, the avalanche warning centre has already published the first avalanche report of this season for the Bavarian Alpine region on Tuesday. This is valid until Friday and then appears daily at 18 p.m., the Bavarian State Office for the Environment in Augsburg announced. Meteorologists expect more snowfall. According to the experts of the German Weather Service (DWD), around ten centimetres of snow are expected to fall in the low mountain ranges and in the Bavarian Forest, and around 20 centimetres in reservoirs in the Allgäu Alps. In the night to Wednesday it should be slippery.
First reported on November 28, 8:49 a.m.: Already at the weekend there was a real onset of winter in many places in Bavaria. On Monday evening, 27 November, this continued – Franconia in particular was hit with full force by the snow whip. This also resulted in many accidents, and the winter services were in continuous operation. In some places, school is also cancelled due to the snow.
Severely injured after accident: driver was probably driving too fast
A bad accident occurred on Monday evening in the district of Hof: There, a motorist was probably driving much too fast between Fletschenreuth and Gottfriedsreuth and ultimately came off the road due to the wintry road conditions. He crashed into a tree and was seriously injured. After all, according to the News5 report, his life is not in danger.

There was also heavy snowfall in Würzburg and Eibelstadt on Monday evening. Even a light blanket of snow covered trees, roads and buildings. Several trees collapsed under the weight of the snow, and the winter service was in continuous operation on the A70 – among other things, a car had slipped into a ditch.

Curious operation in Wilhermsdorf: Ambulance needs rescue
In Wilhermsdorf, Wilhermsdorf district, the fire brigade was called to a somewhat curious emergency situation – an ambulance needed rescue. According to News5, the RTW had skidded on a mountain, and there was a risk that the vehicle would go off the road. Therefore, the crew decided to call for help. As a result, the fire brigade and winter service arrived, cleared the road of snow and ice and sprinkled it so that the ambulance could safely enter again.

Weather forecast for Bavaria: What's next for the onset of winter?
According to the German Weather Service (DWD), a low pressure system is currently sweeping over Franconia. "Behind it, sea air of polar origin flows from the north back to the Alps," it says. For the centre of Bavaria and Swabia, meteorologists are currently warning "only" of wintry slippery conditions. In the Alps and in large parts of Franconia, on the other hand, there is a current warning for snowfall. This also applies to the entire east of Lower Bavaria and the Upper Palatinate. In the regions mentioned, plenty of fresh snow is to be expected until at least Tuesday evening, 28 November.
