Considerable property damage was caused by the fire in the technical room of a large biogas plant on the A 94 motorway in the municipality of Vaterstetten. No one was injured.

Neufarn - On Wednesday, 29 November, several motorists had discovered the heavy smoke development on the site in Neufarn (municipality of Vaterstetten) next to the A 94 motorway and reported it to the emergency services.

Firefighters from several fire brigades in the area entered the plant via two entrances wearing breathing apparatus with C-pipes and were able to extinguish the flames before they spread further. The gas supply line was pushed off at an early stage so that there was no risk of explosion. This has been confirmed by ongoing measurements. The operation lasted about two hours, and no one was injured.

As district fire councillor Andreas Heiss told the Ebersberger Zeitung, gas had leaked from a screw connection to a pipe, which had ignited. An emergency degassing was carried out to get the pipes gas-free. The cause of the gas leak could not have been properly clarified on site. The police have taken up the investigation of the cause.

In addition to Heiss and other members of the district fire inspections, the fire brigades of Anzing, Vaterstetten, Neufarn, Parsdorf-Hergolding, Poing and the Stahlgruber plant fire brigade were in action.
