The torturer of a cat, who had dragged the animal behind his bike last July in Nice, was sentenced on Wednesday to six months in prison by the criminal court. Absent from the hearing held early this morning, he was also permanently banned from keeping an animal, as well as from exercising a profession related to animals.

On July 9, the poor animal had been tied to a string and dragged through the streets of the Côte d'Azur capital by this individual, aged in his forties. The incident took place in the early afternoon on Rue de Roquebillière, near the Saint Roch district. Spotted on his two-wheeler by a team of the national police, the man was quickly arrested and placed in police custody. He was heavily intoxicated at the time. He was charged with "acts of cruelty" and "serious abuse" of a domestic animal, but was also released pending trial.

Seriously injured in the legs, the animal, a British shorthair just one year old, had been handed over to the association Au service des animaux 06, located in Vence. In particular, he suffered very serious burns on his paws and paw pads. Since the announcement of the deliberation, Cécilia Fruleux has not hidden her relief and satisfaction. The director of the association speaks of "good news". It also welcomes the recognition of the acts of cruelty by the courts. "The most important thing for us is that he can never keep animals again!" she said.

Another piece of good news is that the young feline has "made a total recovery", says Cécilia. He was also adopted by a woman who is very involved with the Vençois association. He now goes by the name of "Timatou". "With us he refused to eat, he was still very traumatized. But with her, everything is fine. He trusted her right away. He's behaving normally today," says the director, happy to share a few photos of "Timatou" in great shape.
