Tuesday was a busy day for Mundo Boca. After the notification of the suspension of the presidential elections due to a ruling of the Justice based on certain "irregularities" in the electoral roll, the crossfire between the ruling and opposition camps broke out through their respective press conferences convened by both. In addition, candidate Andrés Ibarra made appearances on several television channels. And despite having spoken to journalists at 21:00 p.m., Juan Román Riquelme did not refuse to show himself publicly once again. But with a peculiar context.
Outside of prime time and after probably enjoying a barbecue, as well as receiving the affection of the people who summoned themselves to the door of the Bombonera in support of the idol, Román said he was present from 1 in the morning in the streaming of El Loco y el Cuerdo, the program hosted by Flavio Azzaro and Andrés Ducatenzeiler through Youtube. And the talk extended with special guests until after 4:00 a.m.
Due to the occasion, the presenters left aside the classic studio where they make their broadcasts to go to none other than the stalls of the Bombonera, where they had the permission of the club to form a blockbuster to receive the '10'.
There, after waiting for him for more than three hours (the program began at 22:00 p.m.) and with more than 100,000 viewers waiting for his arrival while listening to several crazy songs by "Duca" that went viral on social networks, Riquelme appeared with his inevitable mate in his hand and without the shirt with which he showed himself at the press conference. Instead, he returned to his traditional outfit made up of the club's sportswear.
It is in this context that a relaxed style note was created in which no topic was left untouched.
At first, the native of Don Torcuato followed the thread of what happened throughout the day and began by arguing that "since they know (opposition list) that they lose by a landslide, then they do this".
Then, he took aim again at the Ibarra-Macri duo. "With a complaint, he doesn't want to let the members he represents. I hope that the judge lifts the sanction and on Sunday we will live a beautiful day," he said.
"I arrived here in '96. Mr. Macri won the elections in 95 and only won the championship in 98 with us. That was enough for him to win the elections without anyone running, I imagine. We won six titles...", said Román, seeking at the same time to extol the trophies won during his tenure.
This is how he took advantage of the situation to remember the visit to the Quinta de Olivos that he made in 2019 during Macri's presidency to allegedly seduce him by joining the lists of the ruling party in the last elections. "He had to lose the 2019 PASO by a lot. After 3 or 4 days he had me for 6, 7 hours at the Quinta de Olivos. I asked him if he didn't have anything to do because he had to take care of the country," she recalled.

However, the most striking moment of the night came after "Duca" expressed his recognition and admiration for Riquelme. Azzaro took the floor to praise him, thank him "for this time" and speak to him from the side of the friendship that they have both shared for years. Suddenly, Roman blurted out "You're going to make me cry" and ended up leaving the set for a few minutes so as not to be caught visibly emotional.
It was at that break in the interview that Raúl Cascini and Marcelo Delgado, members of the Football Council and colleagues of Riquelme who were watching the program from off-camera, ended up joining the talk.

After the members of the Football Council were the focus of several football memorabilia, Román returned to form a high-flying panel. With the three guests, the talk took a course full of anecdotes that marked their times as players.
However, there was also a side more focused on the management of the Council, at which point Riquelme took the opportunity to throw a stick at Óscar Ruggeri, who on some occasions expressed that Román "was not prepared" to hold a political office.
You had to hear every day 'they're not ready for three players', 'they're not ready to renew a contract', 'they're not ready for this', 'they're not ready for that'," was the questioning of the Boquense idol.
And he continued: "When you were champion, no one went on TV to say 'the truth, I congratulate you'. I would speak well of that person if they came out and said, 'Honestly, I recognize they did well.'"
But the real jab at the 1986 World Champion came after he had set the context. "We live in a country where there are people who think they have a lot of power, they think they can dance in (Marcelo) Tinelli's, that they can be a coach, that they can do a thousand things and that they have the right to criticize everyone. That's the truth. And when it comes to those who were football players, it bothers a little bit," he said.
The memory of Maradona
As they recapped their four-year term, Duca advised Riquelme that after his brother was persecuted for illegal ticket scalping, he should have a bodyguard.
"We are taken care of by Mary (his mother). If they want to do something to me, let them do it to me, I live normally because we all end up in the same place when we die," Román replied.

That's when he decided to name Diego Maradona to make a metaphor: "The person with the most power is the one who has just completed three years (of his death). Because to have power is to be loved by people very much because you gave them some joy. After that, I'm normal, I'm a Don Torcuato boy."
In addition, he again took aim at Macri for his statements about the "Diego era being over." "I didn't see when he said that Maradona doesn't exist anymore. But I know that when a person is gone, you can't talk about them because you can't defend them. And I wasn't friends with him, but it was the greatest thing I've ever seen on a court. We all wanted to be like him," Román said.
Roman's take on the Superclásico
After the analysis carried out regarding his management and everything surrounding the presidential elections, Duca decided to take Riquelme on the football side. First, they recalled iconic matches from the number 10's career, such as the Intercontinental final against Real Madrid. Then, they brought time to the present and asked him about Boca's performance in their last matches.
In this context, Román acknowledged: "The energy that was lost in each Copa Libertadores match was huge and after 3-4 days it was difficult to play. And well, the last month we ran out of strength. The excitement of the Cup was great and we have neglected in the local tournament."
He also mentioned the opportunities that the team missed to avoid being left out of the 2024 Copa Libertadores. "We deserved to beat San Lorenzo and it was time to equalize, we hit the woodwork 2 times. If we won, we would qualify for the Libertadores," he said.
And in the face of the memory of several matches in the last semester, he alluded, without mincing words, to the refereeing of Andrés Merlos in the last Superclásico. "For me, Cavani's disallowed goal was a goal. The offside cameras stop the play with the ball already in motion," said the vice president.
He added: "I played a lot of games and a lot of classics, if Merlos shows up four days before with the shirt of the other club, it's weird. He and Armani handled it well. It was the only derby in history where Enzo Perez didn't protest."

The only question that fell on deaf ears among the members of Boquensa is when the former president of Independiente tried to get some clue about the new technical director that Boca will have for 2024. "Is it the Viceroy?" he asked insistently. I can't say anything, let's hope to vote on Sunday," was the most Román managed to respond to
So it was that with a round of dunks in between, thousands of anecdotes revealed and new electoral comments, it was 4 in the morning and there were still more than 60,000 spectators present.
However, Azzaro had to end what had become a coffee chat to cut his program at the usual time. In addition, it was time to leave La Bombonera after six hours of broadcast in silver format and bring closure to a Xeneize day that seemed to have no end.
