One person was stabbed to death on Friday evening (December 1st) in the town of Fosses (Val-d'Oise) during a brawl between youths, the gendarmerie and the Pontoise prosecutor's office told AFP on Saturday. "A collective brawl broke out," said prosecutor Pierre Sennès. "A knife was pulled out by one of the people involved and a fatal blow was inflicted," he said.
The gendarmerie was called around 22:45 p.m. about a brawl at a restaurant in this small town in the north-east of the Ile-de-France department. "The perpetrator of the fatal blow was arrested and taken into custody," the prosecutor said, adding that he was a 24-year-old man.
The prosecutor's office was not able to specify the age or gender of the victim as of Saturday noon. A second person was injured and hospitalized as a result of the fight, according to information provided by the gendarmerie. The circumstances of the brawl have not yet been determined: the Pontoise prosecutor's office has only reported that those involved were "young people". An investigation has been opened and entrusted to the Montmorency search brigade.
