For 20 years, the Förderverein Sonne has been supporting the Petershausen primary school with great commitment. At the general meeting, therefore, not only a new board of directors was elected, but also this anniversary was celebrated.
Petershausen - A look back at the many activities of the active and committed "Sonne". For example, the association finances the important MFM project on sex education, pays for the Antolin school license, which helps to motivate students to read. The annual readings with well-known authors are among the highlights for the school children.
A first aid course for fourth-graders was initiated last year. "In this way, we want to take away children's fear of providing help in an emergency at an early stage," explains outgoing chairwoman Laura Meinl.
"Sun" finances excursions
For many years, the sun has also been financing regular excursions into nature with a biologist. "We have also fully financed or generously supported large, one-off activities, such as circus projects or theatre performances." And even during the pandemic, the "sun" put a smile on the children's lips with a set of juggling balls along with a nice letter to practice at home.
As a thank you, the association received hundreds of pictures painted by the children. The "Sun" also takes care of the popular T-shirts and sweaters with school mascot Mianschu – a must for every schoolchild.
Last but not least, the association accompanies the children's transition into and out of school – with the schoolhouse rally for all future school children and an annual fourth-grade afternoon that helps students and their parents choose a secondary school.
Mayor emphasizes commitment of "Sonne"
Mayor Marcel Fath, who was present at the general meeting, knows about the importance of the association. The work of the "Sonne" could not be appreciated enough, said the head of the town hall when asked by the local newspaper. "This is the only way to make it possible for our children to do what the state saves." Namely, "all the exciting and great projects that round off the educational experience in the long term." The conclusion of the head of the town hall: "Without a support association, a school is almost unable to move these days."
The school management with Rector Alexandra Wolff and Vice-Rector Anja Neubert is also full of praise. "Children, teachers and school management think the work of the association is simply great." Wolff emphasizes that the association supports many school life events with energy and also with financial resources. Without the support association, many of these events would simply not be possible and feasible, especially costly for children and parents, explains the headmistress. "The school community really appreciates this work."
In the meantime, 212 member families support this variety of activities with membership fees and one-time donations.
