After the onset of winter at the weekend, it won't be quiet in the new week either. Weather warnings are still in place for Bavaria.

Update from December 5, 11:31 a.m.: The German Weather Service (DWD) expects danger from freezing rain and icy conditions in the coming nights, especially in the south and east of Bavaria. "The topic will continue to occupy us in the coming days," a DWD meteorologist said on Tuesday. Especially at night, the risk increases due to slippery roads and pavements, also because precipitation in the form of rain and snow is expected again and again.

During the day, temperatures usually rise so much that the surface becomes more grippy again, the DWD meteorologist continues. In the night to Tuesday, the Munich area and parts of Lower Bavaria in particular were hit by freezing rain. This occurs when snow falls through warm layers of air, melts and then freezes again on the cold ground.

Freezing rain, on the other hand, fell on Monday evening, especially in the Augsburg area and in the Danube region, said the DWD meteorologist. This occurs when precipitation freezes again in the air and then hits the earth as grains of ice. "But the effects are largely the same."
